California Socialite Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder

Wealthy Philanthropist Faces 15 Years to Life Behind Bars

Rebecca Grossman, co-founder of a burn center foundation, was sentenced to prison for the deaths of two young women.

A wealthy California woman who co-founded a burn center foundation in the Los Angeles area was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the deaths of two young women. Rebecca Grossman, a prominent socialite and philanthropist, was found guilty of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of 23-year-old Sabrina Dunlap and 24-year-old Claudia Maupin.

Grossman's lawyers filed a motion for a new trial, seeking to overturn the murder conviction. The motion was denied by the judge.

Grossman was arrested in 2022 after a long investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. She was initially charged with murder, but the charges were later reduced to second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter.

Grossman's sentencing comes as a shock to many in the Los Angeles community. She was known for her philanthropic work and her support of various charities. However, prosecutors argued that Grossman's actions led to the deaths of two young women and that she deserves to be held accountable.
