Hugh Freeze Named Auburn Football Coach

Subheading

Born on September 27, 1969, Hugh Freeze was named as the 31st head football coach of Auburn University. Freeze is a former high school and college football coach who last served as the head coach at Liberty University. He was a successful high school football coach at Briarcrest Christian School, winning five Region 8-AA Coach of the Year awards and four Associated Press High School Coach of the Year awards.

Body

Freeze's hiring comes after a coaching search by new Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen. He was announced as Auburn's next coach on Monday night after spending the last four seasons at Liberty. Freeze has a well-documented past, having been forced to resign from the University of Mississippi in 2017 due to personal misconduct.

Freeze is a native of Mississippi and is trying to reform his image. He has expressed his commitment to Auburn and to building a strong football program with integrity. Auburn is hoping that Freeze can lead the Tigers to success on the field and help the program regain its former glory.
